Grow Strong, Grow Healthy Project

Improving rates of under nutrition and stunting of children in East New Britain, PNG through capacity building and education of health care workers and parents.

Research by the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies studies run by the Burnet Institute have shown that nearly half of all children under the age of 5 are stunted (low height-for-age) in East New Britain, PNG.

The Grow Strong, Grow Healthy project will work with communities to address these alarming rates. Local health care workers and parents of children under 5 will take part in education sessions, parent groups and other activities highlighted by local stakeholders as being effective, appropriate and helpful for these groups to learn about childhood nutrition, growth monitoring and child development.
