We aim to eliminate the public health threat of infectious diseases, supporting specific global elimination targets for and the Sustainable Development Goals.
We conduct innovative studies, including clinical trials, cohorts and implementation project to generate new knowledge and health outcomes.
Our group works closely with key affected populations including:
- people who inject drugs (PWID)
- people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- men who have sex with men
- the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
- people in prison
- people at risk of homelessness
Our group is informed by community perspectives and includes community in the design and conduct of our research.
The health outcomes from our have led to changes in national and global guidelines in testing, care and treatment for communities living with infectious diseases.
We have directly supported the roll out of new testing strategies, new person-centred models of care, new treatment and health systems changes to improve health of people living with infectious diseases.
