Key objectives are:
- To build the capacity of township health system in delivering and co-ordinating MDR-TB prevention and care.
- To deliver quality community-based MDR-TB prevention and care services through community-based treatment supporters.
- Improved community and health facility based TB/MDR-TB infection control, TB preventative activities and education
- Measure the impact, effectiveness and feasibility of the model of care through monitoring and evaluation and operational research.
July 2014 - June 2018
The project, supported by the Australian NGO Cooperation Agreement Program, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (ANCP-DFAT) is:
- Providing all 60 existing multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) patients with treatment support for at least nine months of the first year
- Reducing the burden on the health system and enabling treatment and care for more MDR-TB patients diagnosed but not currently enrolled.
