Background

Lily brings to the Institute her extensive scientific, legal and commercial education and experience. She completed her PhD at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute researching breast cancer therapeutics in collaboration with a US multinational biopharmaceutical company. She has also worked at mid and top tier law firms in commercial and contracts, and insurance litigation respectively.

As a registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney, she has worked with local and multinational biopharmaceutical companies drafting and prosecuting patent applications, as well as providing strategic advice regarding freedom-to-operate and infringement. Her industry expertise includes biologics-based therapies including antibodies, peptides, gene and cell therapies, preclinical testing of biologics, and manufacturing processes for biologics. She is also a member of the Institute of Patent and Trade Marks Attorney of Australia (IPTA), the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ), AusBiotech, and Melbourne Network.
