Background

Jenny Jung Research Officer at Global Women’s and Newborn’s Health Group, International Health atBurnet Institute. Jenny is an MD & PhD Candidate with a strong passion for health equity and an advocate for women’s health, focusing on improving maternal and perinatal health in low- and middle-income countries. Her research interests explore solutions to address health inequality and inequity, and to ensure the most disadvantaged groups can access affordable, timely, and quality healthcare.

Jenny’s expertise is around epidemiology and evidence-based decision-making, and her research applies skills of evidence synthesis and knowledge translation. Jenny has published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Lancet Global Health, Lancet Digital Health, and BMC Medicine. Jenny also previously worked as a Senior Project Officer at the Federal Australian Government supporting research agendas and policy development in non-communicable diseases, where she was also Secretariat for Research and Development Advisory Group.

In the last few years, Jenny’s research has focused on the integration of non-communicable diseases into antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care. Jenny led research to inform stakeholder meeting held by the World Health Organization Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research, and conducts projects in this field where she supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students. She also teaches at Monash University and leads training workshops focused on evidence synthesis methods. More recently, her research has explored novel interventions for the management of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, through her involvement with EU-fundedDigiCare4You.
