Hein is a medical doctor from Myanmar. He has worked for 4 years in non-governmental organisations in armed conflict-affected areas, providing sexual and reproductive healthcare services.

Hein is pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health at the University of Melbourne, specialising in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He is conducting a research project at Burnet on gonorrhoea epidemiology among gay and bisexual men using data from the ACCESS sentinel surveillance system.

Hein's key interests include infectious and non-infectious disease epidemiology, and HIV & STI prevention, particularly in key populations.
