Background
Des is currently a PhD student under the supervision of Associate Professor Leanne Robinson, Professor Freya Fowkes, Dr Moses Laman and Professor Archie Clements. His project aims to optimise malaria surveillance in PNG through by understanding the spatial epidemiology of malaria. Malaria indicators (eg: parasite prevalence, serological indicators) collected from routine health facility data and community surveys will be used for spatial risk mapping to characterise the heterogenous epidemiology of malaria transmission in PNG. He is also a student with ACREME (Australian Centre of Research Excellence in Malaria Elimination).
